Rubin Home Game

A small, quiet experiment in seeing the night sky from home.

The Rubin Observatory Home Game is a deliberately simple Android application that turns an ordinary phone into a long-running sky watcher. It uses the s camera in a fixed, repeatable way to take steady images of the night sky from a window, roof, or backyard.

This project was written to be humble, durable, and understandable. It favors old hardware, minimal permissions, and transparent behavior. There is no cloud backend, no account system, and no data collection. The images stay local and can be viewed over a small built-in web page.

The goal is not professional astronomy. The goal participation is noticing brightness, motion, weather, and change over time using tools many people already have.
